Politicians. We love to hate them.

As my parents always used to say when I got bullied in school “they are just jealous of your X, Y and Z and so they feel as they can’t get more of X for themselves it is easier to pull you down to their level.”

Maybe that’s why we hate them. Are we just jealous of their power, money, status etc? Maybe but I think it is because of certain disconnection and lack of transparency that we get from many of them. They pretend to represent us and yet they don’t really connect with us at all. (If you want to see how Government really works and who has the real authority then click here.)

One thing I personally dislike about politicians (and people in general!) is when they lie about lying. To say something and then do something different without acknowledgement or apology to the people involved lacks integrity but to say something and then do the opposite *cough*CARBON TAX ANYONE?*cough* really annoys me. But that is not the reason for my blog today. Following on from my Asking the Hard Questions blog, I mentioned that when someone avoids the question, in my mind, it has just raised the value of the answer as they want to hide you from the answer and keep it for themselves, either raising their value more and/or maintaining or lowering your value in the relationship all the more. Suppression is the word I’m looking for here.

Watch this video here for a fantastic example of this. Now I know politicians cop a lot of crap from the media and the public but I think that our mate Julia from Altona has been just a little unprofessional with her attitude, and near on attack, on Paul Kelly. Watch it once and you will see how incredibly well versed Kelly is in asking in a very professional way and how fast Julia responds on the attack in order to get around the issue.

She spends a whole SIX minutes dodging this question. Not just politely playing it down or even giving a humble and polite no.

If you still don’t believe that Julia has something to hide, watch it a second time just with audio or just with visuals and you will see what I mean. Her facial expressions and tone of voice are incredible! Sometimes when we filter things out and focus we notice certain things we didn’t before.

As a follow up, if you enjoy a good political scandal and in particular a Julia Gillard scandal then check this radio interview out. It is from Alan Jones at 2GB radio with Michael Smith. I’m seeing more like this more frequently about our current government.

Who keeps the government accountable?…The people do.

Never dodging the question,
